Wigarama is back to raise money for the Cartier Trust with a night of flashy entertainment and wigs galore at Auckland’s Switch Bar. The Cartier Trust supports the funerals of those who lose their lives from AIDS-related illnesses and provides emotional help to family members and friends. The event is also about supporting those living with HIV. “We are still burying people,” says founder and Trustee Karen Ritchie. “The last was only four weeks ago. It is still happening. So we and the families of those we help are very grateful for the community support.” Wigarama is being held at Switch Bar, on Saturday 4 May, with the doors open from 7PM. It’s designed to be totally community accessible, with a $5 donation at the door of the K’ Rd venue all that’s required to enter. James Leuii will DJ, while there is a long list of performers who will keep the crowd entertained, with Buckwheat, Tess Tickle and Steven Oates hosting. “We want you to come along, have a good time and help us raise some money,” Ritchie says.
