Peters continues crusade for referendum

Wed 27 Mar 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at NDHA

Winston Peters Three Supplementary Order Papers have been filed ahead of the Committee Stage of the marriage equality legislation, two pushing for a referendum and another on celebrants’ rights. New Zealand First leader Winston Peters and his disgraced former MP Brendan Horan are each continuing their pushes for a referendum on the issue. The SOP on celebrants’ rights has been put forward by Labour MP S’ua William Sio, who has been unwaveringly against marriage equality. The Committee Stage is due to begin tonight, while an anti-equality vigil and counter “support love” demonstration are held on Parliament’s grounds.
