Kevin Hague says the marriage equality Bill is likely to pass into law, but is encouraging people to continue lobbying their MPs. In a video update, the Green MP thanks all those who have been emailing, sending letters, visiting MPs and above all those who gave submissions to Select Committee, supporting the marriage equality Bill. Ahead of the second reading on 13 March, he says “That groundswell of support has really made a difference and this Bill which had an emphatic first reading victory (80 votes to 40) looks likely to pass into law. “If you have the chance to talk to your MP or email them encouraging them to continue to vote for Bill, that would be great. “But it seems we're on the cusp of a major steps forward in human rights law in NZ, and it’s been fantastic seeing all of those amazing young people especially giving their stories to Select Committee on why this is so important to them - and it's been important to the Green Party for a long time. “We believe in full equality under the law ,and that's what this Bill will deliver.”
