Ruth Dyson is Chair of the Select Committee A select committee is due to report back to Parliament on Louisa Wall’s marriage equality bill on Thursday. It’s tipped to recommend amending the bill to clarify that celebrants in churches would not have to marry gay couples. Around 20,000 submissions were sent to the Government Administration Select Committee on the issue. The second reading of the bill is due to be held on March 13. The bill passed its first reading passed with a majority of 80 to 40 last August.
