Exhausted Pride coordinator expresses gratitude

Mon 25 Feb 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

More than 1,300 people attended the performance-packed Proud party on Saturday night The delighted but shattered coordinator of the Auckland Pride Festival has taken time out from catching up on sleep to thank all those who put so many hours into making it a success. The inaugural three week event wrapped up yesterday with a dog show, women’s dance and bingo. That came after the closing Proud party more than sold out on Saturday night, with more than 1,300 people coming through the multi-venue Victoria Park location. “I am completely exhausted,” a very tired Auckland Pride Festival coordinator Julian Cook tells GayNZ.com Daily News. “But very, very satisfied.” He is paying tribute to both his own crew, who poured endless hours into making the Festival a success, and all those who ran events and “put their money and hearts on the line, they are the most amazing people”.
