Parade ribbon cut, Museum to stay lit up

National MPs Nikki Kaye and Paul Hutchinson cut the blue ribbon As the ribbons were cut for this afternoon's Pride parade it was announced that the Auckland Museum will remain lit in rainbow colours until this Thursday night. Representatives of political parties and community organisations along with gay US ambassador David Huebner cut rainbow coloured ribbons moments ago and the parade is about to commence. Ponsonby Road is lined with spectators for its entire length, sometimes three and four deep. Both the Museum and the sky tower were lit in vivid rainbow hues last night much to the delight of the glbti communities.
