Marriage equality jumps another hurdle in Illinois

Fri 15 Feb 2013 In: International News

The Illinois Senate has approved a marriage equality bill, which now has to pass in the House before it becomes law. The Senate, which is controlled by the Democrats, voted 34-21 to approve the measure on Valentine's Day local time. However, House Republican Leader Tom Cross is not sure whether it will gain Republican support. Governor Pat Quinn, a Democrat, has already indicated he would sign the bill into law, should it pass.
