One of New Zealand’s favourite exports is dragging herself back to Auckland to present her latest work “Kitsch In Synch” as part of the Auckland Pride Festival. The one woman force described as “part gender illusionist, part slapstick clown”, Pollyfilla, has already had successful seasons at the 2012 NZ Fringe Festival and 2013 Melbourne Midsumma Festival, and is dripping with excitement at premiering the show in Auckland. Described as "Desperate Housewives" meets "The Stepford Wives", Kitsch In Synch explores the many multi-coloured moods of the everyday housewife in her endless repetitive quest for domestic perfection. It’s a homage to the Kitchen Sink Drama, a commentary on gender-based roles in society and a satirical look at mid-20th century women's movies. The performance is completely complied from rare song, radio and TV commercials, spoken word recordings and sound effects, and is lip-synched entirely Pollyfilla. Performers featured in audio excerpts include Shirley Bassey, Liza Minnelli, Joyce Grenfell, Ruth Wallis, Joan Turner, Dolores Gray, Kay Starr, Kaye Ballard and Coral Browne. KITSCH IN SYNCH!
