"No evidence" of Bakshi's "open mind" on Ctte

Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi MP Marriage equality select committee member Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi appears to have a closed mind on the subject of same-sex marriage according to fellow MP and select committee member Kevin Hague. Of the controversial MP who has offended several gay people making submissions to the select committee, gay Greens MP Hague says Bakshi "has said he has an open mind and that he is genuinely open to being persuaded to support the bill, but I haven't seen any evidence of that yet." Hague says the National MP "asks few questions" and "I think he's judging the submissions on different criteria than everyone else." However, Hague doesn't support the calls made to have Bakshi removed from the select committee after he stunned submittors at the Wellington hearings by asking how they will have "the children" and who will be the husband and who will be the wife. "I believe those who are opposed to the bill are entitled to have someone on the committee who comes to it from their perspective," Hague says.
