Vatican backs right to workplace homophobia

Fri 18 Jan 2013 In: International News

Vatican City The Vatican has slammed European Court of Human Rights rulings allowing employers to limit religious expression in the workplace. The statement comes after several cases where the court has ruled that employees who refused to provide services to gay people were justifiably dismissed. The Vatican's Foreign Secretary says anyone in Europe must be able to object at any time to anything they find immoral such as homosexuality. "Every person, no matter what his beliefs, has, by means of his conscience, the natural capacity to distinguish good from evil and that he should act accordingly. Therein lies the true freedom," he said. In his World Day of Peace message the Pope declared that same-sex marriage is unnatural, against human nature and poses a threat to justice and peace.
