FAQs Dir: Everett Lewis USA, 2005, BetaSP, 90mins This one wears its heart in the right place - way out there on its queer sleeve. It even has a sweetly sixties-style political message - kisses make for better explosions than bombs. The guys are hot, the soft porn scenes are sweet and Miss Destiny is more than the archetypal drag queen as den mother, he's a damn fine actor, too. But the film suffers from an uneven tone, villainous acting from the villains and man has it got pacing problems - the climax when it comes is merely a dribble. Still, any queer flic that has the balls to slag off the entirely loathsome Republican Party can find a soft spot in my old hippie heart. (Uh oh - does the CIA monitor New Zealand gay sites, do you think? Am I gonna get on the FBI's list of undesirables, along with Lennon and J. Edgar and the Dixie Chicks? ) John Curry - 1st June 2006
