'Gay conman' to face all charges in January

Tue 11 Dec 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

David Nepia-Carroll Accused 'gay conman' David Nepia Carroll made a brief appearance in court this morning when the judge heard that the charges against him are likely to be resolved by early January. Carroll faces 58 pages of charges ranging from the theft of a brand new Audi from a gay couple, to taking three other cars, cash, credit and eftpos cards, withdrawing cash unlawfully, taking laptops and clothes, and leaving gay homestays and other accommodation providers across the North Island without paying. He denies the charges. Appearing on court lists as Samuel Palmer and called into court under the name of David Palmer, he stood silently, dressed in a light grey sweater and with close-cropped hair as a further appearance was scheduled for early January. The prosecution believes the many charges will be sufficiently resolved to be clearly put before the court at that time.
