The US Supreme Court is taking on California's ban on gay couples being able to marry. The justices will review a federal appeals court ruling that struck down the state's same-sex marriage ban. It will also decide whether Congress can deprive legally married gay couples of federal benefits otherwise available to married people. The cases probably will be argued in March, with decisions expected by late June, the Huffington Post reports. It says a decision in favour of gay marriage could set a national rule and overturn every state constitutional provision and law banning same-sex marriages.
