Two and possibly three gay students will tomorrow night find out if they are to be recipients of this year's GABA Tertiary Scholarships. The awards are offered to students who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, is seen as a good role model by peers and teachers and who has excelled in effort and achievement in their secondary education. Any GLBT student who is enrolling in a full time degree course, of at least three years duration, at any Tertiary level institution recognised as such by the NZQA can apply. Last year's winners Last year's recipients were about to begin studies in medicine, health and the arts. The scholarships, worth $3,000, are administered by the GABA Charitable Trust and funded by donations and fundraising by members of the Gay Auckland Business Association.
