US footballer apologises for 'faggot' slur

Wed 28 Nov 2012 In: International News View at Wayback

A prominent American football player has publicly apologized for calling someone a 'faggot' on Twitter. Despite deleting the offensive tweet a week ago, Cleveland Browns linebacker Ricky 'Tank' Carder initially stood by his post. "Haters gon hate cause that’s what they do, haters don’t give respect where it should be given so I’m done arguing with you fools," he tweeted last weekend. Now admitting he was wrong to use the homophobic slur, he has apologised and tweeted: 'I want to sincerely apologize for the word I used! I did not in any way mean to offend anyone! That tweet doesn't define me as a person!'
