Fri 9 Nov 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Julianne Kramer The victim of a helicopter crash in Central Otago overnight was a local transgender woman. Julianne Kramer, 52, was the chief pilot and instructor at Wakatipu Aero Club. She was killed when the Robinson 22 helicopter she was piloting crashed into Criffel Range in the Cardrona Valley. Kramer also ran Air Wakatipu, the commercial division of the Wakatipu Aero Club. She identified as female, however police have today issued a media release saying she was male, after initially stating she was female - a move which is understood to have been at the request of members of her family. A service is being planned by the Wakatipu Aero Club for Kramer, and will be held next week.
