Guy Sebastian wants everyone to “get along”

Thu 18 Oct 2012 In: International News

Guy Sebastian Australian musician Guy Sebastian has revealed a friend coming out was one factor which led to him moving away from his former fundamentalist Christian beliefs. The Battle Scars singer and X Factor judge says things began to be different for him when a friend from church fled the country after coming out as gay. "He moved countries, he was that scared about the whole religious thing because he was brought up in the church. My friends and I were like, 'Dude, why did you leave, what did you think we would say?' It became not a big deal at all," Sebastian said in a Daily Telegraph interview. He added: "Look at gay marriage. I don't think anyone has the right to tell someone who they can and can't be in love with." In a Facebook post following backlash from his Christian fans, he explains he has grown a lot in the past few years, as he has married and had a child, Hudson. “It saddens and concerns me for the sake of my child that we live in a world still full of intolerance, hatred and prejudice. Hudson is the inspiration for me to write my latest song ‘Get Along’, as I want to do what I can to make a positive impact in the world.”
