The Auckland Pride Festival Trust says it’s thrilled that the Parade will be held on Ponsonby Road, once again. “It’s like a return to the home of Auckland’s Rainbow Community and a place that holds wonderful memories for many Aucklanders from the old Hero Parades,” says co-chair Gresham Bradley. The Trust says its theme will be “One Community”, which he says will reflect a Rainbow community that is one in its diversity, a community that has matured, and a community that has a place in the wider community. “The 2013 Auckland Pride Festival Parade will showcase and celebrate our artistic talents, many cultures, varied Rainbow Community groups and participation in the life of New Zealand society encompassing a broader demographic - the ‘One Community’,” a just-released announcement says. The Trust says the event will be held mid-afternoon to attract a broader audience. Meanwhile the two major Pride roles have been handed out, you can read more here
