Sat 18 Aug 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

This experiences of being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex and Asian will be among the topics discussed at the first day of New Zealand Diversity Forum in Auckland this Sunday. Minorities Multiplied: We are GLBTIQ and Asian will be hosted by Rainbow Youth at the Aotea Centre from 1.30PM to 3PM. Glbti Asians will share their coming out stories, the reactions of their families and explain how they juggle their cultures with who they are. Later in the day the Human Right Commission will facilitate a discussion titled Rainbow Spirit and Interfaith. "Many Rainbow people are equally as spiritual as everyone else, yet a great many of these feel they are required to choose the one aspect of themselves over the other, a summary of the session states. "The initial questions we will ask our participants to address are: 'Where are the safe points of connection between Rainbow people and faith traditions, and with the interfaith movement?' and 'How can these be helped to develop?'"
