DJ Kam Shafaati Rising Melbourne DJ Kam Shafaati will play gigs in Auckland and Christchurch next weekend, in his New Zealand debut. His is playing at Urge Bar on Auckland’s K Rd on Friday 17 August before heading to Christchurch and a gig at Dux Live the following night. Kam says he is expecting a very lively New Zealand audience. “I’m expecting both gigs to be very busy, very friendly and memorable nights of dancing. I can already tell that the energy will be incredible from all the messages and comments that have come through!” Already a widely known DJ in Australia, he has been named one of the headline acts at San Francisco party Real Bad, which is set to launch him into the big time. The event acts as a charity fundraiser and has donated over $1.5million to GLBT causes. Kam says it is a true honour to be picked. “Each year the Real Bad DJ Selection Committee invites respected and well-known DJs from around the world to submit a demo. The two successful DJs selected have the privilege to play a nine hour set and to create a complete musical journey for over 2,000 men and women celebrating the end of Folsom Street Fair weekend.” Since starting DJing back in 2009 with a residency at the Laird Hotel in Melbourne, Kam has built a reputation with two stints at Mardi Gras in Sydney, as well as gigs at Chunky (Sydney), Tropical Fruits, and Midsumma T-Dance (Melbourne) . His Liquid Logic podcast (http://liquidlogic.podomatic.com/) now has over 10,000 listeners a month. Both the gigs in Auckland and Christchurch are $10 each with tickets available on the night only.
