Thu 2 Aug 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

Train have released a strong statement in favour of equality US band Train has expressed its sadness as the use of its song Marry Me on a New Zealand website against Marriage Equality, saying everyone should be able to find love and make it last forever. Numerous fans Tweeted the band to let them know the song was on the Protect Marriage site, which has been set up by a number of anti-gay groups. “It was upsetting to us that ‘Marry Me’, a love song with no boundaries, was being used to promote an agenda we don't subscribe to,” a statement from Train reads. “We (Train) take the idea of marriage very seriously, and believe it is the right of all consenting adults, regardless of sexual orientation. ‘Marry Me’ is about just that, finding that special love and making it last forever. Everyone should be allowed to have that.” The song has been removed from the website, but you can hear it below.
