Gay musical nears fundraising target

Fri 13 Jul 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

The creators of a new gay musical are just $400 away from their fundraising target, with just 13 hours until their Pledge Me drive closes. Theatre of Love have raised just over $2600 for Day After Night, near their target of $3,000. The show is a pop rock musical love story about two gay men and a baby, and they are fundraising to ensure it can be staged to its “full and fabulous potential”. “With everything going on in the world around gay marriage and the quest for equal rights, and also something in New Zealand legislation regarding the adoption laws, I feel it’s a relevant story to be told now. It’s current,” says writer and composer Benjamin Cleaver. Day After Night will be on stage at Auckland’s Basement Theatre for a two week season this September.
