Packed Pride Week revealed by UniQ Vic

Thu 12 Jul 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

David Huebner Wellington’s UniQ Victoria will host an event with gay US Ambassador David Huebner as part of an impressive array of Pride Week events from 23-28 July. An informal brunch with Huebner will be held on Wednesday 25 July, where students will be able to meet the Ambassador and his long-time partner Duane McWaine while enjoying complementary drinks and nibbles. The US Embassy is supporting the finale event of Pride Week, which will be a panel discussion with Evan Wolfson of Freedom to Marry and “a few mystery guests” at the Te Papa Conference Lounge on Saturday 28 July. The Pride Week will have nine events packed into six days, and a special Salient issue packed with queer content. The events include a Queer Quiz Night, a self-defence class, an open mic night, a ‘Gear for Gays’ Sex Toy Party with DVice and Traffic Light Party, where the colour worn reflects whether you are single or available. There will also be a Diversity Forum and a less serious debate on whether straight marriage should be banned. “So dust off your party shoes and rainbow gladrags. It’s going to be a fabulous week,” the executive says.
