GABA asks for input from wider community

Sat 7 Jul 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

The Gay Auckland Business Association is asking for feedback from non-members as it seeks to continue the process of rebuilding. "It's really important to us that we retain and grow our membership to achieve our purpose to be New Zealand's leading lgbt organisation in social networking, business and community," says President Michael Richardson. Richardson says GABA is like any organisation, and needs to constantly evolve to grow while remaining true to its core values. He says the executive sees the potential for more members of the community to be included and is on a drive to build an organisation that attracts more people and is more meaningful for its members. "We are committed to evolving GABA to stay connected and relevant to our members and also grow the GABA membership to provide more social networking and business activities and events and provide more funds for community grants," he says. GABA plans to widen its scope to engage and include more people and organisations. It says one of the key changes will be tailoring separate events and services to different people focusing on the areas of business, social networking and the community. "However, some things at GABA will not change. GABA is about the members and what they want from the Association. It's about fun, social events and networking. It's about supporting the community through the GABA Charitable Trust." GABA is running a survey for non-members here, and anyone who fills it out by 16 July will go into the draw to WIN a $100 voucher from Nosh.
