Venue and performers ready for Lesbian Ball

Sat 7 Jul 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

Urzila Carlson Auckland's Pullman Hotel is all set up and ready for tonight's Lesbian Ball, which will be hosted by comedian Urzila Carlson and feature entertainment from The Mermaids and a show by Miss Phloss and her troop of Drag Princes. "I've MC'd things before, other things, but never a lesbitarian ball," Carlson has told GayNZ.com. Her advice for anyone undecided about a costume is simple: "If you have good boobs, go low cut. I don't see why we all should suffer. If you don't have good boobs, cover it right up. Wear a polo top." Performer Miss Phloss is known for her glamorous costumes, and is hoping attendees will embrace the Butch and Burlesque theme. "Dress up, enjoy it, whether it's in your top hat and suit or corset, dress and boa. Seeing your partner all dressed up to impress is beautiful," she says. "My show will be traditional burlesque and a tongue in cheek comedy routine especially choreographed for the Lesbian Ball,” Phloss says. “I'm very excited about performing to an audience who'll appreciate the innuendo!" There will be prizes for the best-dressed at tonight's event, which is back thanks to the support of the Gay Auckland Business Association Charitable Trust.
