Fri 1 Jun 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Rufus Wainwright is returning to Auckland to play a show at the Civic Theatre with his full band on Friday 21st September 2012, following the release of his new Mark Ronson-produced album, Out of the Game. He will be joined on stage by folk-jazz-soul singer and songwriter Krystle Warren, who recently completed an Australian solo tour. Over the past few years Wainwright has put pop music aside and concentrated on his other interests, from his Grammy-nominated recreation of Judy Garland's fabled Carnegie Hall concert to the 2009 premiere of his opera, Prima Donna. It has also been a big few years in his personal life - has has witnessed the birth of his daughter, Viva; the death of his mother, singer/songwriter Kate McGarrigle; and become engaged to his partner Jorn Weisbrodt. All of these experiences inform Out of the Game, his seventh studio album. Friday 21st September: Civic Theatre, Auckland, with special guest Krystle Warren www.buytickets.co.nz (09) 357 3355 Auckland goes on sale at 9AM Monday 11th June
