The GC's 'prince' an alleged fraudster

Thu 31 May 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Morehu-Barlow TV series The GC has had a brush with Queensland’s alleged gay fraudster Joel (Hohepa) Morehu-Barlow, with female friends of gay cast member Alby Waititi trying to set him up on a date with him. In last night’s episode, Waititi was encouraged by two female cast members to go on a date with a "part-Maori Tahitian prince'' who they claimed had recently come out. However the ‘prince’ never showed up, standing Waititi up. TV3 spokeswoman Rachel Lorimer has confirmed to APNZ the ‘Tahitian prince’ was Morehu-Barlow but at the time of filming his fraud allegations were unknown. The 36-year-old New Zealander, who is not the Tahitian prince he claimed to be, is accused of defrauding more than $A16 million from Queensland Health. He is yet to face trial.
