Jim Parsons is best known as Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory The fact The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons is gay has been confirmed in a New York Times article on his latest theatre role. Parsons, best-known for the quirky character Sheldon on the CBS sitcom, is returning to Broadway to play the role of Elwood in the revival of Harvey, which opens in June. The role made famous by Jimmy Stewart is about a guy with an invisible friend. Last year Parsons was in the production of the Larry Kramer AIDS-era play The Normal Heart on Broadway. The New York Times has now reported, following an interview with the actor: "The Normal Heart resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment, he said." Parsons has previously skirted the issue of his sexuality in interviews.
