Missy Higgins bringing comeback to Auckland

Mon 21 May 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

Bisexual Australian musician Missy Higgins is heading to Auckland in August for her first New Zealand show in five years. Missy and her Nashville-based band will perform at new venue, The Rangatira at Q Theatre on Tuesday, 7 August. The tour is part of Higgins’ comeback after she took a break, and is the first chance fans will have to hear Missy perform songs from her new album The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle, which comes out in New Zealand on 1 June. "I've always absolutely loved New Zealand so I'm so happy to be finally playing a show here again, it's been too long,” Higgins says. “I'll be bringing over my Nashville band especially too so it should be a really special show.” A few weeks ago, Missy released Unashamed Desire, her first single in five years. In 2007, the now 28-year-old confirmed to lesbian magazine Cherrie she was indeed a ‘not so straight girl’, and she has since discussed being in relationships with both men and women, “I guess I fall most easily under the category 'bisexual'.” Higgins has since stated she wanted future interviews to focus on her music rather than her sexuality. Tickets to the The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’ Tour go on sale Monday 28 May through Ticket Master and Q Theatre.
