Mon 21 May 2012 In: International News

Jenna Tackalova Transgender Canadian beauty pageant contestant Jenna Tackalova has been named Miss Congeniality, after she won her fight to be part of the contest. Tackalova was initially disqualified from taking part in the Miss Universe Canada pageant because she was not a "naturally born female”. However she engaged a high-powered lawyer and demanded to be let back in, and after some public back-and-forth with Donald Trump, whose Trump Organisation owns the contest, competition officials agreed to let her compete. She finished in the top 12, and shared the title of Miss Congeniality with three other women voted on by their fellow contestants. "One of my key traits is positive thinking," Talackova says on her Miss Universe Canada profile. "I believe you create the world around you with your thoughts."
