A free ‘mental health literacy’ workshop is to be held in Auckland, specifically for members of the glbti community. Mental Health 101 is designed to give participants greater confidence to recognise, relate and respond to people experiencing mental illness. The Auckland District Health Board, Mental Health Foundation and workshop provider Blueprint are sponsoring the free course. A date has not yet been set for it, but GayNZ.com will have full details when it is. “As you know the LGBT community has one of the higher numbers of suicide around the country,” says Ivan Yeo from the Mental Health Foundation. “To ensure that our communities are well supported ADHB, MHF and Blueprint through the funding from Ministry of Health to provide our communities an opportunity to come to this one day workshop Mental Health Literacy, MH101.”
