Thu 26 Apr 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Alastair Cameron Alastair Cameron is stepping down from his role as Chair of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation, following his appointment as David Shearer’s chief of staff. He is also resigning as a Trustee. Cameron says that while his term on the Board only had another six months to run, he is nonetheless sad to be finishing early. He says he does not see this affecting the work of the Board or the organisation. “I’m leaving at a time when the organisation is in good heart and I have absolutely no doubt the Board and Shaun [Robinson] will continue to build on the real gains made in recent times.” NZAF Executive Director Shaun Robinson is congratulating Cameron on his new role. “Alastair has provided clear and effective leadership for the Board and overseen numerous significant changes at the NZAF,” he says. “During his time as Board Chair he managed the implementation of a new strategic plan and the recruitment of a new Executive Director as well. The NZAF is a more stable and sustainable organisation and while we are sad to see him go, I don’t anticipate any major disruption to our work at either a governance or operational level.” Dr Paul Bohmer will be Acting Chair until a new Chair is elected, which is likely to be at the next Board meeting at the end of May.
