Hague pays tribute to retiring Bob Brown

Mon 16 Apr 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

Bob Brown Gay New Zealand Green MP Kevin Hague is paying tribute to retiring Australian Greens leader Bob Brown. “Greens in New Zealand have enormous admiration for Bob Brown, and wish him the very best for his retirement,” Hague says. “His achievement in building the Australian Greens to the point where they now have considerable influence has been enormous. “Yet through that time he observed NZ politics too, and never failed to congratulate us on our successes too, most recently joining us at our candidate selection conference last year.” Hague says Brown has also been one of the few gay men leading a significant political party anywhere in the world. “And I sincerely hope his achievement will come to be more widely recognised and celebrated by the global queer movement.”
