Out Takes announces headlining flicks

Fri 13 Apr 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Cloudburst Let My People Go! and Cloudburst have been announced as the opening night films for Out Takes: A Reel Queer Film Festival 2012. The annual event will run from 24 May – 4 June in Auckland and 31 May – 10 June in Wellington. Let My People Go! is described as “a frenetic and sexy comedy”, where in Finland, a few days before Passover, a series of misunderstandings result in the breakup of a Frenchman and his Finnish lover, sending the Frenchman back to Paris and his dysfunctional family just in time for the Jewish holiday. Cloudburst features Brenda Fricker and a “delightfully foul-mouthed” Olympia Dukakis as a lesbian couple who escape from their nursing home and head up to Canada to get married. Along the way, they pick up a young, male hitchhiker. The full programme will be released next week. You can discuss this gay New Zealand community news story on the GayNZ.com forum here
