Gay drama and emotion from Emmerdale episodes

Tue 10 Apr 2012 In: Worth Checking Out

Aaron (left) gets romantic My mate told me to check out a gay story line of a daytime tv soap. I had a quick look on Youtube, searched for Aaron's Storyline and was hooked. kimbaforevaryanlamb has edited out Arron’s storyline from the British soap Emmerdale's episodes, making it easy to follow. This gay-themed thread covers a screened period from November 23rd 2009-april 7th 2012 in over 400 bite-sized clips. Why watch it? The story has been written by some excellent writers, and challenging roles are played expertly by a great team of actors. Danny Millar plays Aaron Liversey, a tough straight 18-year old who has to realise he is actually gay. His straight best  fiend Adam Barton is played by Adam Thomas. The story fills your boots, grabs your heart and, over time, tears it from your chest, throws it to the ground and stomps all over it. Then it quietly hands you back the shredded mess. But wait there’s more. The story jogs on, kicking into the future. All of this action happens in Emerdale, screened in the middle of the afternoon. A ridiculous time for the gay population to see it, possibly explaining why it has slipped under the radar. The writers have presented very real stories, with fleshed out characters, many of which we will personally identify with. Looking back on the whole series, it was tough to watch but an amazing experience I would not have liked to miss. With this series there are some slow areas, but the story is only being subtle. Stick with it and the tapestry it weaves will become beautiful in its completeness. Always remember that there are people who love you for who you are, all around. Reach out and share your life with them, it does get better. - Geoff Allen Geoff Allen - 10th April 2012
