Last month’s popular Bathhouse Disco in Wellington will return later this month after it was announced the city’s queer nightclub, Club Ivy, will not be reopening. The event, aptly named ‘Fill The Void’, has been organised so that local continue to have varied spaces where they can “party like the majority”. Organiser Andy Boreham says the news that Club Ivy would not reopen meant that the team owed it to queer Wellingtonians to organise another Bathhouse Disco, months before they had intended to. “The first Bathhouse Disco was a huge success, but we weren’t planning on revisiting the concept for at least another six months,” he says. “Now that Club Ivy won’t be reopening, it’s imperative that regular events are organised so that we have a choice of places to party.” Andy says that monthly events have now been organised indefinitely in Wellington, including Urge: Black which will take over the capital at the end of May. “We are really lucky to still have one dedicated, full-time queer venue with S
