A Facebook page set up on Carmen Rupe’s behalf when she was alive has disappeared overnight, amidst an increasingly hostile dispute over the use of her name. Pindi Hurring was tasked by Carmen to run the page, in which she often updated followers on her health and always wished friends happy birthday. Since her death it has been used as something of a memorial and tribute page, and contains a treasure trove of pictures of Carmen. However there has also been a dispute between Hurring and the newly-formed Carmen Rupe Memorial Trust about the future of the page, and its administration. It’s not yet clear why the page has disappeared. You can discuss this New Zealand gay community news story in the GayNZ.com Forum.
