The New Zealand Herald reports the 33-year-old has been appointed director of campaigns and research. Hughes resigned from Parliament over a scandal involving an 18-year-old man, who he had taken back to his house in Wellington. The man laid a complaint of a sexual nature with police. Police investigated for three months and decided not to lay charges.
