Bar says bouncer's comments were "stupid"

Mon 5 Mar 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News

An Auckland bar’s management has made it clear the “stupid comments” made by a doorman do not represent how the bar feels and is promising to ‘deal’ with the situation. A bouncer at Neighbourhood in Kingsland told a journalist and his friends “gay c*nts” weren’t welcome when they arrived on a stag night out. It's surprised many in the community, who say the bar has always been gay friendly. Ritchie Harvey from Neighbourhood’s managers the Pack Group has apologised and said the bar is all about community. “And that means all of the diverse people that make it what it is; what we are not about is bigoted people who clearly don’t think they live in 2012,” he says. The bar says it will be letting everyone know what it intends to do about it to make sure such a situation never happens again.
