The New Zealand AIDS Foundation has begun advertising the General Manager Operations role which has been created following the exit of two senior employees. The role will replace the separate heads of the NZAF’s prevention and health support sections, which were held by Simon Harger-Forde and Eamonn Smythe, who both resigned last year. Applications for the position close at 5PM on Friday 9 March. The Foundation has previously stated it wants the new role to be filled by a person with "very strong connections with the gay and bisexual men’s communities in New Zealand." The job description is for someone with a “demonstrated ability to relate to, work and communicate effectively within gay and bisexual men’s communities”. The NZAF wants someone who also has management qualifications or experience, a proven history of managing teams, empathy and a professional approach to related sexuality and sexual issues, ability to work effectively at an organisation-wide level, as well as staff and budget management skills. The new position will report directly to the Executive Director while the managers of the NZAF Burnett, Āwhina, NZAF South/Te Toka centres, and the Social Marketing and Community Engagement teams will report to the new position.
