1.15PM: Contestants in the Mr Gay New Zeraland competition, the winner of which will compete in the Mr Gay World pageant in South Africa have introduced themselves from the main stage of the Get It On Big Gay Out as the event gets fully underway. A light dusting of rain has swept across Coyle Park in inner city Auckland, but the weather remains warm and humid with a cooling breeze coming in from the harbour. Colourful umbrellas and gazebos are springing up as groups of glbt people stake out their favoured spots from which to enjoy the afternoon. A strong cohort of Labour politicians has arrived with party leader David Shearer escorted onto the site by his gay deputy leader Grant Robertson, glbt Labour MPs Charles Chauvel and Maryan Street and Jacinda Adern. Shearer is due to address the growing crowd at 1.30pm. GayNZ.com Daily News is filing live regular reports throughout the afternoon from the Big Gay Out.
