George Takei Gay Star Trek legend and cult hero George Takei will join a gay American Idol runner-up among an assortment of contestants on the next season of Celebrity Apprentice. Takei came out in 2005 in Frontier magazine, where he said he had been in a committed relationship with his partner, Brad Altman, for eighteen years. The couple was married in Los Angeles in 2005. The actor has been a powerful advocate for gay rights and is the spokesman or the Human Rights Campaign "Coming Out Project." He has often used humour to promote serious messages about homophobia, which has seen him gather a cult following. Singer Clay Aiken, who came out in 2008 following years of speculation about his sexuality, will also compete in the reality show and has told North Carolina media there was "a very eclectic group of people at the board room table." That group includes mob boss widow Victoria Gotti, IndyCar champ Michael Andretti, comedian Arsenio Hall and singer Tia Carrere. The new season begins in the US next month.
