The Governor General pitches in on November 25th A final total figure for the World AIDS Day collection is expected in early January as the AIDS Foundation waits for final buckets to come in from a retail chain which will continue collecting until Christmas Eve. The collection, run by the NZAF which now keeps half of the net proceeds for its own health support programme and passes the balance to the Wellness Fund to support financially stressed people living with HIV, was primarily held around World AIDS Day December 1st. The main street collection was held on November 25th. But the NZAF advises that the unnamed retail chain's collection remains active and "several hotels, two community organisations and one gay bar that collected haven’t deposited their proceeds yet." A spokesperson for the Foundation expects the total will be "slightly less, but not dramatically different, to the 2010 total of $32,875.30."
