Wellington Police would like to speak to 19-year-old Nicho Allan Waipuka in connection to their investigation into the death of 43-year-old Radio New Zealand journalist Phillip Cottrell. Officer in charge of the investigation Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Miller says Police would like to speak to Nicho Waipuka who we believe may have been in the vicinity of Boulcott Street at 5.30AM on Saturday 10 December 2011, when Cottrell was attacked. "We believe Mr Waipaku can assist us with our enquiries and I urge him to come forward and speak to us," he says. "Preliminary results indicate Mr Cottrell's injuries were consistent with blunt impact trauma and multiple fractures to his head, neck and extremities (left arm), including extensive brain injuries." Anyone with any information as to Nicho Waipaku's whereabouts should contact Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 but should not approach Waipuka directly.
