7.40PM: Early indications - Banks in?

Sat 26 Nov 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News

John Banks has the early lead in Epsom 7.40PM: With only a few percent of the votes counted arch-homophobe John Banks is looking strong in Epsom while the party vote for that electorate is strongly National. In Auckland Central National's gay-friendly Nikki Kaye is slightly ahead of Labour's equally gay-friendly Jacinda Adern but its very close. Labour's gay candidate Charles Chauvel is just behind United Future leader Peter Dunne. Gay-friendly Nat Maggie Barry is doing well on the North Shore. Louisa Wall is out to a strong lead in Manurewa, while Grant Robertson is slightly ahead in Wellington Central. Overall, National is pulling ahead of Labour as widely predicted. It must be stressed these indications are based on 10% or less of the votes being counted.
