Wayne Otter leaves NZAF's Burnett Centre

Sun 20 Nov 2011 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Wayne Otter, pictured during the Burnett Centre's shift to College Hill in 2008. A long-serving and high profile NZ AIDS Foundation manager has left the organisation, citing health reasons. Wayne Otter, who has for many years managed the Foundation's Burnett Centre in Auckland, finished on Friday, commenting in an email to friends that it has been "a pleasure working in this field over the last years." Otter is sometimes seen as the vibrant Miss K at glbti events and was a long-serving counsellor at the Centre as well as managing its day to day operations and the professional development of its professionally trained counsellors and HIV testing staff. He gained much respect for organising the Burnett Stand for VIP and seated viewing of the Hero Parades which raised substantial funds to support the Wellness Fund of which he was for many years the bursar. The NZAF has so far not been able to provide comment on Otter's departure other than to confirm that he finished on Friday. Otter has also been unavailable to comment further.
