UniQ Victoria and Legalise Love are throwing a Summer Love shindig as a fundraiser to take the fight for marriage and adoption equality national. The bash will be held at Club Ivy on Friday night and LegaliseLove President Joseph Habgood says the money it raises will help the group's next move, which is to approach MPs from all around the country, and ask them to pledge to support legislation enabling same-sex marriage and adoption. "The money we raise from this event will be spent on regional campaigns, giving campaigners around the country the resources they need to petition their MPs effectively. So be generous, and come along and support a great cause," he says. "We thought a summer themed party would be a great way to celebrate the end of the year and, at the same time, fundraise for a great cause," adds UniQ Victoria President Genevieve Fowler. With jelly wrestling, $5 drinks and entertainment provided, Fowler says board shorts and bikinis are essential. Entry is $10 and comes with a free drink and lei. Entry in the jelly wrestling tournament requires a gold coin donation, and the finals will be at 11pmis. Habgood says there will also be a prize for the best costume and the biggest donation or donation pledge on the night.
