Palmerston North's glbt community has rallied together following its meeting place MALGRA and Club Q being broken into and vandalised on Sunday night. "Rest assured, we have dealt with cowards and vile characters before and we will take this in our united stride," spokesman Matt Keen has written on the group's Facebook page. "The matter now sits with the police who have been immensely supportive and we will readily assist them however we can." Among the damage was a mess from tipped out bottles of alcohol, which volunteers have helped clean up. Computers were also taken, but new ones have been donated. Keen has thanked all those who have already helped and those who are offering help, "over the next while as we recover, build our resilience, and continue to enjoy being part of an active community and enjoying our club". The resilience and humour of the local community is clear, with a 'Cops and Robbers' party planned for this weekend.
