Lesbian icon Melissa Etheridge will perform concerts in Auckland and Wellington in July. Fans are promised "an intimate evening of over two hours of powerful performances from Melissa’s extensive catalogue of hits". It comes after she cemented her global star status with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in September. The singer is known for her honest and confessional song writing style, paired with her bluesy rock-infused vocals that has seen her rise to the top of the musical spectrum since the her 1988 debut self-titled album that has reached double platinum in New Zealand. Etheridge publically came out as lesbian in 1993 and has four children, two fathered by sperm donor David Crosby of Crosby, Still and Nash.
