Voting begins today for two vacancies on the Trust Board of the NZ AIDS Foundation. The Foundation is New Zealand's primary HIV prevention organiation and also provides services to people living with HIV. The overwhelming majority of those contracting HIV in New Zealand are gay and bi men. 228 eligible members of the NZAF will be choosing between four candidates to join the board which oversees the work of the Foundation and sets its general course and priorities. Amongst the candidates are past NZAF staffer Daniel Eakins, OUTLine General Manager Vaughan Meneses, social worker Christian Ogbah and existing board member Andrew Sweet who is standing for another term. Eakins is a registered psychologist with a Diploma in Business Administration. Meneses has experience of governance of NGOs including Hero, Pink Health, the Red Cross, OUTLine and Auckland Pride. Ogbah has a Social Work degree and has worked closely with refugees and migrants. Sweet is a policy advisor for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Most of the Foundation's approximately $4million budget is derived from government sources, particularly the Ministry of Health. Online voting closes at 5pm on Thursday 10 November.
